CHarachters
That V chooses to craft his disguise using a Guy Fawkes outfit is very significant. He represents an idea, which draws on the past and poses issues of revolution and what it means to be a leader or a martyr or a terrorist and how those concepts can shift into one another depending on perspective. Despite his murderous acts of revenge, he is still viewed as good (Bulloch, 2007). His goal is to unmask "the underlying weakness of the governing regime, through acts of symbolic violence" (Bulloch, 2007, p. 433). Because the audience learns his reasons for revenge, they are more easily sympathetic towards his actions, which in turn challenges the audience to questions their perceptions of good and evil.
